Established in 1997 under the Director of Melanie Boniszewski, Tonawanda Dance Arts has been giving quality dance education to the children of the surrounding communities of Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, Kenmore, Wheatfield and Grand Island for over 20 years. It is our mission to develop a team of associates to provide quality dance education to children and exceptional customer service to our clients. We realize that dance lessons should be disciplined, along with fun and energetic, and that all students should learn in an encouraging and positive environment and we are committed to giving your children the best dance education possible!
Our brand new, conveniently located facility boasts over 5,000 square feet of space! We have four large fully equipped, air-conditioned studios, with sprung floors and a wireless sound system. All studios contain viewing windows and closed-circuit TVs so you may watch your child dance. We have plenty of seating, a parent workstation, and a large parking lot. Our building is also fully ADA compliant and accessible.
Tonawanda Dance Arts is proud to be a More Than Just Great Dancing™ (MTJGD) affiliated studio! MTJGD is a licensed affiliation of dance studios that subscribe to a high standard of dance instruction and management practices and are united in their belief that dance has the power to change lives. This dynamic worldwide network is transforming the dance industry by providing its affiliate studios with staff development, leadership training, quality programs, and curricula in order to develop conscientious children and young adults who are respectful, confident, and share their gifts and talents with the community. We have chosen to align ourselves with this organization because we believe in upholding certain standards while educating children and are committed to creating a positive, safe, encouraging, and welcoming dance studio for all!
Tonawanda Dance Arts is also the first dance studio in the region to achieve Youth Protection Advocates in Dance (YPAD) certification. As the nation’s only dance certification program focusing on both safety and wellness for dance students, this certification marks Tonawanda Dance Art's commitment to keeping kids happy, healthy and safe in dance. To earn the designation, studios must complete training in CPR, First Aid, dance education and safety, injury prevention, emergency preparedness, abuse awareness and prevention, dancer wellness and development, social media safety, nutrition and disordered eating, bullying, and conflict resolution. Only studios that complete all of these trainings, as well as background check all employees are eligible for certification.
Our staff consists of friendly, caring, experienced and professional instructors who strive to make your child’s time at our dance studio an enjoyable and stress-free one. They are dedicated to ensuring that your child receives the proper training needed for them to reach their full potential in a safe and positive environment.
